What size hole do I need to drill for catching largemouth bass when ice fishing?

I want to go ice fishing this winter but I have never gone before and have I little knowledge on how to ice fish. I want to know what size auger to get. I plan on fishing for largemouth bass.

1. 8-15 inch diameter.

2. Really don't need too big of a hole, Ive been ice fishing my whole life and have never needed an auger bigger than 8". Just last weekend I was dragging 20" 4-5lb trout out of an 8" hole. Check your regs before cutting anything over 10" many states have limits on hole diameters. Most important part is keeping your line off the edge when fighting the fish. By the way 8" augers are way lighter, cheaper and punch through the ice like butter.

3. The bigger the hole, the longer it takes to drill. If you're searching and drilling a lot, 6 inch is good. If you're not moving around much, 8 inch is a nice.
