1. i usually use a small crank bait or a renegade rubber worm for them. use the texas rig for the worm with a bullet weight if you do not know what the texas rig is google it they will show you

2. if your talking about stream fishing for them I suggest either a small plastic worm or a small jig. fish in areas where the current breaks around rocks or around logs or cover. if in lakes try areas with rocky bottoms and fish fairly deep using either jigs that look like crawfish.

3. The most productive bait for catching smallmouth are crayfish, minnows or shiners, and helgramites. The simplest way to rig them is to use A standard J hook with a leader of 8 pound fluorocarbon. you can free line the bait or use the desired weight to sink the bait. if yoiu are fishing the river you want to keep the bait moving with the current. Remember, the more ntural the presentation the more likely you are to catch them. Smallmouth can be picky in heavily fished areas.

4. It really depends on where you are fishing, i.e. a lake or river, what time of year, water clarity, depth, and several other factors. There are many different circumstances thet would determine what lure to use and how to present it to the fish in order to entice a strike. Therefore I would refer you to two particular articles on smallmouth fishing that I believe will help you alot. Both are on this page:

5. 1) Buy a pack of green Zoom Flukes and some hooks.
2) Put the hook through the tip of the soft bait and go about 1/2" down and go out the back. Turn the hook around and come out the stomach part -- it makes it a little bit weedless and the hook doesn't show.
3) Drift, troll, or maybe even cast wherever the fish are -- usually the drop-off.
4) Reel in your fish

That's how we do it in northern Michigan.

6. get you a few top water lures...

7. SMB love tube baits. Get a variety of colors and sizes and hop them along the rocks. Rattlebaits can also work when the water gets warmer. One other deadly tactic is a leech(real or fake) on a jig or bare hook. Use 6# line in open water, maybe 10# around rocks/other junk.

8. It all depends on the depth, temperature and time of year.

My favourite lure is actually made in North America and comes in floaters and sinking models.

Streamers fly fishing. Rabbit hair streamers work best

Jigs with curly or swim tales Black or white

Worm harnesses,

A variety is often needed depending on the conditions, weeds, depth....

Good luck
