What is the best bait to catch smallmouth bass in a creek with very clear water, in kentucky.?

1. Just regular worms.
2. Take a selection of lures of all different shapes colors and actions to the creek, by trial and error I am sure will find one that works
3. Well, well. well. A question that is right up my ally for a change as I only have been doing exactly that my whole life and in the state mentioned.
Ultra lite spinning rod and reel, 6lb test line .
Rebel- pop R
Rapala- 3in floating minnow
Strike king- mini king spinner bait
Rebel- tiny craw crank bait.
I usually wade the shallow pools and catch most of them below the riffle areas - any current breaks and undercut banks.
Go tear them up,right now is the time to.
4. Dude, a live worm, rigged on a set of gang hooks. Let the worm bounce naturally off the bottom as it tumbles downstream. The technique works great. Don't use line heavier than 6 lb. test!

5. natural baits worm crawdads minnows
6. I've always had huge success at local creeks in KY using go-devils (or helgrammites if you want to get technical). I've always seined for them myself, but I suppose they're available in local bait shops (I can't say I've ever seen them at bait shops, though). Their skin is so tough that on many occasions I've caught 3-4 fish on the same go-devil. The only downside is that you have to hold them right, because they'll pinch the heck out of you if you let them.
My very best fishing days have always been at Elkhorn creek in Franklin county using go-devils. You should definitely give it a try.
7. Use the Hydra Fishing Lure, I've caught 10 bass in under 20 minutes, but you have to order it from the web, I've never used a lure quite like this.
