what type of lures to use when smallmouth bass fishing?

i want to know what type of lures to use, specifically the name and the type, and even the color

1. A pumpkin seed or watermelon colored grub is the most popular lure around here.

Small, heavy spinner such as Panther Martin, black body with gold blade; and Rooster Tails, any color works well. I like the white ones with silver blades.

They also readily take Woolly Bugger and Clouser Minnow flies. Black, olive, and brown for the buggers, any color for the Clousers.

2. Depends where your fishing for them ie. region, lake, pond, river, clarity of water, in a boat or from shore etc. All of these can effect what to use. For example, small non-jointed Rapalas used with a twitch retrieve works well in shallow clear rivers. In deeper water rivers, drifting with a minnow, sinker and slip-bobbers setup. Deep diving shad raps work being trolled in lakes. Fuzzy Grubs and other jigs work well in varying situations. Color is highly dependent on clarity of water and region. It also can and often does vary from day-to-day.

3. I use rooster tail fishing lures and most colors will work

4. For smallmouth bass around rock structures, you cant go wrong with a crawfish imitation.(soft plastic)

5. Small spinner baits and /or small lead head jigs. The sm.spinner baits are flasher blade upper arm and sm.lead head jig (plastic tail) lower arm. As to color that is going to vary with the water, the time of day and what after some experimenting with different colors the fish decide they like. I usually start with a lighter color on a sunny day, in the AM or PM or cloudy day, the dark colors.
They will hit spoons also, I sometimes use a small Daredevil or Little Cleo. But the most productive for me is the Spinner bait. I live in the Pacific North west.

6. Crank baits, jerk baits, jigs, and top water lures. Top water: white crippled killer, heddon tiny torpedo in frog color, and heddon dying flutter in white/black. JIgs: any bass jigs, and whatever color the crayfish are in your area. Or even tube jigs in brown, or water melon red flake. Jerk baits: Rapala X-raps sizes 6, 8, or 10. Rapala X-rap shad, either of these in purple ghost, white, rainbow trout, or olive green. Crank baits: Rapala Jointed Shad Raps, in shad, silver shad, or craw fish colors. Cotton Cordell fat crank baits, in silver shad, or purple. Yo-zuris Pinns Minnow, in olive green, purple back, or rainbow trout. These are the lures that i have had the utmost success on, and the colors as well. Good luck fishin', hope this helps!

7. Use those that look like Perch or Frogs
