How do I catch smallmouth bass in a lake?

I live on a lake in British Columbia and I can see sizable bass swimming right off the edge of my dock. I got very exited when I saw them and tried a hook with a worm but it went completely ignored even when it was right in front of their noses. The water is not deep (maybe 8 feet). I can see the fish clearly and can see the bottom. Please help!

1. usually they like live bait like worms. do you use a sinker and a bobber? the bait need to not lye on the bottom and you need to troll a little. just throw it out and slowly real it back. that makes them think its swimming and they will strike. it worms dont work then try a shiny spinner lure.

2. What you need is a black "Jig" in 1/8-1/4 ounce size.

Either bait the Jig with a minnow or live leech (or Crayfish if you can find one).

You can also use a plastic "Tube" on your Jig.

Make sure to spray fish attractant on any tube or lure you use.

They may also LOVE a small Shiner in the 4-5" size under a cork rig.

Hope this helps? Good fishing!
