Striped Bass fishing Bait?

I am going fishing for Striped Bass off of the beach. What bait should I use?

Public Comments

1. bunker

2. First of all, what coast are you fishing on? Striped bass are located on both, so baits differ. However, any live, small fish would do. You can possibly catch these of the beach your fishing. If live is not available, try frozen or fresh dead bait fish. Night crawler also work for them. You can also try whole shrimp and clams. Some lures also work; one that mimic bait fish.

Hope this helps!!

3. sandworms

4. best baits will be
bunker
herring
sandeels
eels
mackeral
clams
peeler crabs
sand fleas
bloodworms

5. Fishing for striped bass with live bait can be done from the shore or a boat. It is probably the most effective way to fish, since stripers love live bait.
Live Eels
River Herring
Sea Herring
Live Bunker
Spot
Mullet

How to catch live bait

When the bait runs occur along the beach, John and I often catch our own live bait using a cast net. We keep the bait alive in 5 gallon pails with a portable aerator. These aerators have an air stone which you drop into the pail of water, and the battery operated pump is hung on the side of the pail. These work OK if the number of baitfish is limited to about two dozen, and if you don't keep them too long.
