Where is Best Bass fishing in the Southern US?
I am trying to plan a 3-4 day fishing trip for about 10-20 guys and I need to know where the best Bass fishing locations are. I live near Kansas City and would like to stay in about a 10 hr driving radius. The trip will be at the end of May, and I would like somewhere warmer, so preferably southern. We also need to have good bars close to where we stay. If anyone has suggestions on places they know of or have been to, PLEASE help me out here. Thanks

2. "Best" is a kind of baggy word. You can put anything into it that you want.
But that time of year, and given your requirements, I don't think I'd go any further than Bull Shoals. The weather should be moderate, there are plenty of amenities surrounding the lake (lodges, bars, restaurants), and the fishing---paricularly for smallmouth---should be spectacular.
One trick I use when planning a trip is to draw a circle on a map around my starting point, with the radius being the amount of time I want to spend on the road. If you figure on averaging 50 miles per hour, that would be a 500 mile radius for you. Just eyeball the possible destinations in that circle (half circle, for you). You'll be amazed at the possibilities.
Narrow them down to a handful of appealing sites, then research what the fishing is like at each of them, in late May, and the available amenities. Then take it from there.
3. Stay at the Floridian Sports Club in Welaka, Florida. http://www.floridiansportsclub.com
The people that own the Club are super-friendly and will cater to every whim you wish.
The fishing is FANTASTIC (It is not uncommon to catch a 10LB + Bass!!) and the food served at the "lodge" is exemplary.
I've stayed at this fishermans resort and it is #1. If you want a taste of "old Florida" fishing, this is the spot!
(Here's an example of how "cool" the Club is. The Bass Pro Shops Corp uses the FS club exclusively for special guests &VIP's that "want to catch BIG Bass & be treated like KINGS".)
Other than Bienville Plantation there is no finer "secret fishing spot" destination within your 10 hour, Southern, good bars, parameters.
Go check it out.
4. Arkansas has lots of beautiful lake that offer great bass fishing.Hot Springs AR. has 3 lakes that almost run right through it.Great hospitality, lots of good night clubs, tons of fabulous restaurants.Plus you can gamble at Oak Lawn race track.Don't get me wrong,I'm sure not the "Chamber of Commerce".I just think this area offers a lot to the serious on non serious fisherman, golfer, and history buff. May will be a good time to hit the bass. They should be in the spawn about then,or at least in a post spawn pattern. You should be able to catch some fish.Good luck and have fun on your trip. Also,be safe.
5. You definitely want to go to arkansas. Depending on what type of fishing you want to do would dictate where. The white river is great for trout and smallmouth. More camping and resorts there. Not alot of bars in the more isolated areas. Bull Shoals on the other hand is great for bass, crappie, and a dozen other fish, You would need to either bring a bass boat or rent one to make your way around on this lake. There are bars and places to party. If you really want the best bass fishing in the US...Florida hands down. little bit longer drive, but man is it worth it. It has its own species of bass that feed year round because of the climate...and charter deep sea trips are the best(orange beach alabama, considered deep sea best). Good luck
6. From what i gather from your question, you might be doing your friends a favor, if you just stay at home & watch some fishing shows on television

8. The best bass fishing lake in Texas is Lake Fayette. It is absolutely flooded with largemouth bass. The water teperature is 95 degrees in some spots because of the water power plant, and that is perfect condition for bass!
