1. check out a lake of shallow water that has visible Lilly pads and tree branches or tree stumps .cast near these areas with minnows ,and enjoy fishing.
2. Yes! Lake Amistad in Texas is HOT! NOW! Bass are on beds. Water surface temp is 60 degrees.
I had reservation to go to Lake Sam Rayburn this coming week and have canceled and am now heading south instead.
Here is a little info on the Lake:

Best of Luck!
Edit:
If you want a Bass fishing trip of a lifetime then I HIGHLY recommend my buddy "Wild Bill" Skinner. He books bass fishing trips to Mexico and South America. Lake Huites or Baccarac are awesome destinations. Pricey but well worth it.

3. If your looking to go on a trip, you have many options available. There are good spots everywhere in the country, but mostly the southern states(i.e. Florida, Texas, California). Mostly it depends on where you live and I am sure you can find a lake around where you live. If you want to go to California, then I recommend one of five lakes. Castaic, Casitas, Cachuma, Perris, or Diamond Valley. I have been to all of these lakes and rental boats are available at every one (except I don't know about Perris). But, if visiting one of these lakes then you should definitely go in mid to late spring,as you will get the best bites. Here, also you can check out some of these sites.

Also, many of these area offer other activities!
But if you want to go somewhere for the views and want to enjoy nature a little more, I recommend either Cachuma or Casitas. Enjoy. Trust me pick a good spot and you're garaunteed to catch a fish
4. If I had unlimited time and money my bet would be Mexico Lake El Salto, or the Kissimi chain of lakes in Fl, another good one is Guntersville Lake in AL
5. You needed to say were you live to help out.
My favorite place was in Kings Bay, GA
6. Don't know where you are... but if you can get to South Wales, fish Rhosilli Beach, near the Burry Holmes island. Fish a rolling lead, with a sand eel. Cast to the 3rd breaker, and hold onto the line. Fantastic sport, also chances of Golden Mullet.
Hope that helps.
