Smallmouth Bass Fishing Questions? Hi I live in Door County, Wisconsin. One of the top fish here is the smallmouth bass. Last year I fished for it a lot. I fish off of docks that are very rocky around it. There are a couple large rock formations which I can see bass swimming in. The other day no lure was working so I tried a wacky worm. This worked great and I caught 4 nice sized smallmouth. I am very interested in this fishing technique now. I am wonder what size hook I should use and what color wacky worm. Recommendations for a smallmouth bass combo? I am starting to get into smallmouth bass fishing now! I don't really have a full-set smallie rod but have been using one of my lighter largemouth rods. I am looking at around $140 for maximum price, but something around $120 for the combo would be more ideal. Don't have much cash as of now, so something a little on the cheap side. I prefer a spinning combo. I am looking at a another Pflueger President, but this one be on maybe a ugly stik lite? I'm looking for more of an all-purpose rod. how to fish for smallmouth bass in slow deeper parts of a river? I have fished for Smallmouth Bass my whole life. I usually fish rapids shallows and pools. The faster water is where I tend to find them. Behind rocks and in some shallows. Well I have moved and now I live on the river. I have taken my canoe out a few times I have found myself in deeper slower water which I dont now how to fish. I really have never used crank baits much for smallies but would like to start. I know soft plastic worms and jigs are some things I should try but I really wanna land a nice smallie on a crank bait. The type of water I have come across tends to be six to eight feet deep. Very slow moving. Lots of downed trees and large rocks. The clarity tends to be about 3 foot down after that its not very visable. I have beat the banks with a chartuse and black crank bait with no luck. Any tips on what I need to use or what I need to do about this slower deeper water?

First Time Smallmouth Fishing? Up here in Rhode Island, smallmouth bass were basically wiped out by the intoduction of the largemouth in the last 30 years.... Why is it so necessary to release Large and Smallmouth bass? I mean people take every other fucking fish in the lake especially the big ones that repopulate the lake. So why is every damn bass fisherman so anal about the keeping of bass. It's as if you will be hunted down for it. They're just another fish. People have told me because the fish never get stocked regularly, so what about panfish such as redear they don't reproduce all that much and people keep them as if there is an unlimited supply.

what is the best color Rooster Tail for smallmouth in a centrel kentucky stream.? I fish for smallmouth bass at Hickman Creek all the time, and I normaly use a small 2'' white grub on a jighead and do very well with it, but I thought that I might try useing a Rooster Tail. What is the best size, color, and line to use. Hickman creek is a somewhat small creek in Jessamine county Kentucky and is almost always crystal clear thoughout most of the creek. it has moderate current in most spots with some slow areas. the swift current is usally about 4 to6 feet deep and has a mixture of alot of fist sized rocks with a few larger rocks. most of the rocks are a brown shade. I hope this is enough information to provide a very detailed answer.

What are the black dots in the flesh of some Smallmouth Bass? I was told that they were paracites and that those bass are not good to eat. In my area (Southern Quebec) most bass caught have up to a few hundred of the dots in their flesh and skin. Are these fish edible?

Which Rapala crankbait is best used for fishing Smallmouth in shallow, rocky cover? In late June, I will be fishing Lake Erie for Smallmouth Bass. We kill them around piers at this time of the year on jigs, tubes, finesse worms, etc. I'm sort of new to crankbait fishing, though. I'm definitely going to buy some X-Raps and Clackin' Raps, but what about a good crankbait for this situation. The water we fish is around 5 feet, give or take, and its mostly rocks. The smallies hang around and under the piers up in the rocks. The water is pretty stained. Would a Rapala X-Rap Shallow Shad be a good choice? Any other sugestions? And also, any color suggestions? We like to stick to dark, crawfish patterns when we're finesse fishing, but I want to stick to baitfish patterns for hardbait fishing. A ton of white bass school up around this pier also, so what would be a good color choice to imitate white bass, but bright enough for the stained water?

smallmouth bass fishing? I have fished for bass all my life but i would mostly target largemouth bass. I am going camping up at algonquin and the lake im going to has smallmouth bass. I have alot of smallmouth lures though like spinnerbaits, a plastic craw hooked like a swimbait, crack craws from basspro, tubes and a crawfish colored crankbait. I also have some other lures im not sure that could be used for smallmouths like swimbaits, flukes, plastic toads/frogs,shaky head worms, topwater frogs, poppers, buzzbaits , these large stickbaits and the good old jitterbug i just bought today at bass pro. I know i have the right lures but i just wanted to be sure of any other lures i can use for smallmouths that i already have. Any other lures you would recommend?
