Where did your biggest Largemouth Bass come from? Lake, pond, river, creek, etc? Also how big was it? My personal biggest came out of a lake a few years back although most of my better fish in general have came out of ponds and smaller lakes. My biggest was a little over 9 pounds.

Whats the big deal about Largemouth Bass? Can you eat them and they taste good? I know I sound like a retard asking that but most of my life has been centered around saltwater fishing and when I used to go freshwater fishing, all I'd try to catch was black crappies. So one day I got into a conversation about why largemouth bass are the biggest gamefish out there and I couldn't figure it out. I know they can get big, but not as big as some other freshwater fish like catfish, gator gar, and pike. And I know for a fact it's not easy catching them as it is fish like crappies and perch. Like I said, I've never went bass fishing, because I live on the coast and my life is centered around saltwater fishing. So there's no reason to have any mean answers.
how to catch these largemouth bass I find everyyear that are impossible to catch in a creek? o.k. every year me and my family go fishing in a creek, in southern missouri, around the beginning of june, and every year we see these big largemouth bass, and i throw my line right out by them and they don't even hesitate to go for my bait, like it is not there, I have tried almost everything, live and artificial, top water, worms, u name it, worms aren't very successful because the perch get them first. Does anybody know how to catch these? I will not accept the idea that it is impossible, I believe if they are there, u can catch them, and there any other way to catch them without a poll that is legal? my friend fishes a lot and in tournaments and says if u can see the fish, then they can see u, and that they are smarting than we think, and that these fish know what is real and fake, and he said I wont catch them. I fail to believe that, I think I can, does anybody have a sujestion, or can anybody help me, please? thanks
whats the biggest largemouth bass anybody here has cught? and where did you catch it and on what type of bait this biggest iever caught was 13.2lb 28in on Lake Fork TX (the best dam lake in the world) usin my 7' hvy act allstar with a shimano calcutta 20 lb test with a weightless senko chartuease lemon laminate was the flavor
Why is there a size limit on largemouth bass when they don't taste good legal size? It makes no sense that they have a size limit (min. 14") to keep a largemouth bass. They don't taste good when they're over 10 inches or so. Smaller ones do taste good, but they're not legal to keep. (I had to keep one last year because it swallowed the hook and would die anyway). But perch and crappies grow big too, and there's no size limit on those. And they taste good any size, better than bass of any size.

I have a 29 gallon tank i would like to have a native fish tank. i would like to put two 3-4" largemouth bass and a 5" blue channel catfish. i would keep them in here until they are too big and then i will release them into my friends farm pond where i caught them. About how big does a bass have to be for it to be mounted? I am going fishing for smallmouth and largemouth bass and am hoping to get 1 mounted for my wall. I know that it is an opinion thing and that any size fish can be mounted but i was just wondering what is the minimum size you would mount. thanks!
How to tag a largemouth bass? I have a pet largemouth bass that we acquired from a pond, and now he's larger and we would like to put him back in the pond, but we would like to tag him to make sure he doesn't get eaten till he gets a lot bigger.

How To Capture Young Largemouth Bass (5 inches or smaller)? I am trying to either get a 3 inch bluegill or a small bass, not big, about 5 inches or less that I will put in my 55 gallon tank all set up and ready and will eventually release it in a few months. I usually see them probably once a week (depends if weather cold or warm) and I have only caught two of these small ones twice in my life and that was with very great luck with a net and really good luck in my minnow trap. But that never happened again for about 2 years but is there a pretty good bait to draw those specific largemouth bass in? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all in advance. I am pretty sure it is legal here and just answer the question first two people did well at answering and telling me off isn't going to earn you 10 points.
Biggest bass? What's the biggest largemouth bass you have ever caught. And what did you catch'em on? Mine is 7 lb. 14 oz. on blk/blue jig and pig.
fishing for largemouth bass? ok so im going to my moms, step sisters, property and they have 2 tanks (ponds). and i wanna go large mouth bass fishing. i want to use lures, not worms. no plastic bait LURES like crank bait spinner bait etc. so i dont know how big the bass are but i think they stalked them with 1 lb last year. and this is the dallas texas area so its warmer. i dont know the kind or size to fish with but i need to have equipment for all of mamorial weekend. i will not be doing ANY night fishing because there are ALOT of snakes around there. i would like to know the brand, type, size, price, where to buy, and a link of a picture if possible. i would like every thing to be at bass pro and cheep and i need equipment that is good for 1 lb. bass and higher because i have no idea how big the bass are. also i would like some info on perch/blue gill but i think i have that covered just some worms for them. i would like to use top waters, crank baits, any thing, thats a lure.
How do I catch large bass? Although I fish for largemouth bass pretty regularly, (for about 8 years now) I have yet to catch a bass bigger than two pounds. Is there something obvious I can do? I routinely catch smaller bass on plastics, spinnerbaits, rattletraps, etc. but I have NEVER caught a decent size fish. I even bought a small boat a couple years ago thinking It will surely improve my chances getting me into deeper water, but still no luck. I realize every body of water/situation is different but anyone got any pointers/tips?

Good bait for largemouth bass? VeI've started ice fishing this winter on my lake, and I have been very succesful so far. I've gone about five times so far and hav caught close to 20 pickeral and bass each time. They are all decent sized, but I am starting to want to go after bigger fish. The bass in my lake fan get up to like 15 pounds, and I was wondering if I should use different equipment for such big fish. Right now I've got 5 tip-ups, with regular string and hooks and one jig rod that I havnt tried using yet. The bait I use is small to medium minnows. Am I fine with what I have now, should I get different equipment, or should I start catching small sunnies and using them as bait?
COULD 2 3" largemouth bass live in a 25 gallon half barrel pond? A buddy of mine is picking up about 70 3"-4" largemouth bass next week for his dads pond and asked me if I wanted a few for my 25 gallon half barrel pond heavily planted and driftwood. It has a filtration pump and has been running uninhabited for quite a while. I am looking into this and he says that throw em right back into his dads pond if they outgrow your pond. I wondered what to feed the bass but his dads pond is full of fathead minnows and he says just let me know when I need dome and he'll fill a 5 gallon bucket up for the bass. I understand they will get big but I am considering just keeping them for a non extended amound of time. Will it get too cold for the fish? What temp ranges are ideal for most largemouth bass? Let me know what you think?

Do largemouth bass eat freshwater catfish ? I have a 3/4 acre pond in my backyard and I know that there are quite a few largemouth bass in it. But, there are many more F/W catfish. I was told the catfish will deplete the oxygen the bass need to live. I want the bass, not the catfish. I was going to try to get as many of the catfish out as I could, but someone told me that the bass eat them. The catfish are not very big, about 4 to 6 inches long, and I've seen bass at least 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. Any advise???
Tips for catching big bass? I live by a lake in connecticut that is full off largemouth, pickeral, and perch. Me and my friends fish it all the time, but we only really catch 3 lb bass at the biggest. But I've heard stories from multiple people and even seen some of them pulling 6-11 lb ones out. Any tips on getting the bigger ones?
Spotted bass in pond? Hey guys I don't know for sure if this is the the heading to post this under but i figured people will still end up reading it. Me and my fishing partner have a pond we've found with a lot of what we believed to be largemouth bass. After reading an article online on spotted bass saying that the spots look just like largemouth but are normally smaller in size and fight like dogs made me start thinking about our pond. The majority of the fish are on average 1.5lb but fight like dogs! We catch them mainly on Red Eye Shads and power worms. The fish we catch on more of a "largemouth" lure like a big bass jig or big spinner bait seem to differ. They are normally bigger, around 2lb and don't fight nearly as hard. So my question is this. Could it be that the pond holds largemouth and spotted bass? It seems we catch them on things normally used for smallmouth but also on bigger lures normally for largemouth. Then the difference in the fight. But I'm beginning to repeat myself lol. So any help would be great. Possibly how to tell the difference for sure not just on opinion. Thank you
Can largemouth bass eat sunflower seeds? Ok my grandpa has a pond full of largemouth bass and i was wondering do they eat sunflower seeds because i want to see if the little ones can get bigger by me feeding them seeds anything to help me?

Very helpful. Fish Geek: You put "experience" down as your source, but you said nothing about fishing for peacock bass, only stating some scientific fact about trout that I already know. Do you have any experience fishing for peacock bass at all, or anything a little more useful to me? enufofthisshit: I've heard that about peacock bass! That's totally awesome! I heard they rip joints loose and rip out or bend hooks! As heavy and well built as most of these lures are, do you really think a big one would tear one of these lures apart? I'd hate to destroy my Tool! Nick Duncan: I really don't care if anyone is gay. Their personal life is none of my business. What they do with themselves or someone of the same sex in the privacy of their own home is entirely up to them. What kind of fish would you suggest as live bait for peacock bass? gmbisgay: If you're really gay, please keep that stuff to yourself. I don't think the fishing section wants to know your sexual desires. I don't. Peacock bass don't hit worms, btw.
How can I catch bigger largemouth bass? I fish a lot in a bass pond, and normally catch about 10-12 inch largemouth bass. My friend, who fishes in the pond says theres 4ft pike in the pond, and she has pictures of her catching really big bass. She also is curious why im not catching these bigger fish...im using the bait she recommends, which is fake black worms and leeches. I also use spinner baits, and other jigs. Any suggestions on new baits, techniques or areas to fish??? Thanks!!
Would live koi in the 8" to 12" range work for bait for big largemouth bass? A friend of a friend has a pretty good sized koi pond that is getting a little on the overstocked side and we're curious if the smaller ones will work for bait. This is in California and I know transporting live fish to different bodies of water is illegal but we will probably be using them for bait in the friend of a friend's grandparent's private pond. I know there are big bass in there, I've seen them. Also, can you tell me how to hook them?
What's the big deal about largemouth bass? What makes them so popular? I'm not what you would call an expert in fishing, but I have done some. What little bit of fishing I've done has been mostly for catfish, crappie, bluegill, and other species of sunfish. I've also caught snakeheads, peacock bass, oscars and other cichlids in Florida when I went to visit family and friends. I understand the basics of fishing and get it, I just don't understand what the big deal is about largemouth bass. Another reason I ask is because most of the questions I ask are in the Pet Fish section and for whatever reason, there have been a lot of questions regarding bass and bluegill lately.
what fish is bigger and or stronger a largemouth bass or a catfish? i have wanted to know for a long time what fish is the better fish? a largemouth bass or a catfish? both are my top two favorite fish. what fish do you guys like the most with overall looks how much fun it is to catch them. and thank you for all the great answers they have realy helped.
How to make a big bass in cover bite? Went fishing today off a boulder at the edge of a lake, and just 10 feet in and under me, a big largemouth was chilling under a sunken log. I tried worms with a spinner at the top... a jitterbug... a rattlebait, spinnerbait, and some others... and at BEST he would move out a foot and look at it, but would never bite. At one point I got the treble hooks from the rattlebait so close to his mouth I could have probably snagged him if I wanted to. How do I get bass like these to bite?? It's so frustrating.
Tank for largemouth bass? Me and my friends want to raise a largemouth bass.... how big of a tank would we need? Any idea of a price When its fully grown we are going to release it into a lake
Big K: Black Bass trivia, Behavioral attributes? Largemouth bass: What conditions are bass most active? (temp, and light conditions) Dim or bright? Smallmouth bass: When bass are feeding... and you are using lures (artificial bait) Why is it so important to set the hook fast as you possibly can? Spotted bass: What type of habitat is preferred for this speceis (rocky gravel covered bottoms, sandy timber covered bottoms, Grassy weedy vegetation covered bottoms? Cool running stream or river? Warm still lake? etc) One more Bass trivia coming tommorow... Good luck! This one is fairly easy. Also GMB if you read this. Why not take another crack at my previous trivia question? I did not mean rock bass at all! It was not my intention for anyone to answer that becuase I didin't even consider people misnamed small-M's as "rock bass" Big kahuna is awesome so far... This is the most activity I've seen since... This is THE MOST activity I have seen here! Sorry for part 1 I meant "what conditions are largemouth most active) And for smallmouth I meant "when smallmouth's are feeding) I assume it might be figured (hence the name before the part of the question) but just to be sure. Ole fisherman... Exellent!
New to fishing, want a largemouth or catfish big enough for eating? I recently started building an interest for fishing, and my goal for these next few weeks is to catch either a channel catfish or a largemouth bass big enough for eating, and i want to scale and filet them myself. i dont know why it just seems fun to me. now for going after freshwater fish like these 1-5lb's what type of rod would you suggest? right now i have a cheap on sale one i got from walmart or somthing. another question: does the type of fishing line you use matter? im always scared that if i snag a real big fish my line is going to break. for beginner fisherman would suggest any types of knots i can look up to tie my hooks and baits on? just need the names. last question, the zone im fishing in is lakes, murky water, missouri weather, what types of baits or hooks i should use, i think the setup are called "rigs". thank you for your responses!
