I need help setting up my lure for largemouth bass fishing? I am going to be shore fishing at a small reservoir this weekend. I am looking to catch largemouth bass. I bought some lures from wal mart and have the basic stuff available. Can anyone help me set this up. I have nothing set up at all. I am pretty much a beginner so anything helps. Pictures and links would be good. I bought some wal mart ones that said storm. they are little rainbow trout lures.
Is this a spotted bass or a largemouth? I'm kinda new to bass fishing and I'm having trouble identifying this fish. I believe its a spotted bass because of the mouth not extending back past the eyes and I've never really seen a largemouth with this coloration. Thanks for your help! Largemouth Bass Trophy 12.8Lb, Value? Hey folks. A customer of ours donated this bass to our fishing lodge when he caught it in 1982. We paid top dollar for this life like mount and it is totally air tight and has been indoors for the whole time. Thats why its still in perfect condition. 12 pounds 8 ounces on nice drift wood, gravel bed, lillys, weeds, and soft plastic minnows fleeing from the bass. Since the bass can be viewed from all angles, even the back is painted and it has both eyes. I have the picture of the angler who caught the bass, the month day, year and which bait it was caught on. Which I would imagine would hike the value up, because it shows that this bass mount hasnt been stretched, it is actual size. http://img.inkfrog.com/click_enlarge1.php?image=100_1087.JPG&username=kingofquartz http://img.inkfrog.com/click_enlarge1.php?image=100_1119.JPG&username=kingofquartz http://img.inkfrog.com/click_enlarge1.php?image=100_0991.JPG&username=kingofquartz http://img.inkfrog.com/click_enlarge1.php?image=100_1096_001.JPG&username=kingofquartz http://img.inkfrog.com/click_enlarge1.php?image=100_1114.JPG&username=kingofquartz

Fish identification; please refer to urls to see photos? Despite reviewing numerous sites and books, I am a disaster at fish identification. So I have uploaded pictures to mypicshare. I think the first is a largemouth bass, the second is a yellow perch, and I'm pretty sure the third is a chain pickeral. Your assistance is appreciated. http://www.mypicshare.com/l2z9sn6kpic.html http://www.mypicshare.com/jwdk9j7jpic.html http://www.mypicshare.com/lyit2cf2pic.html Regarding the differences between a Northern Pike and a Chain Pickeral. They are both Pike. My fish ID sources distinguish the two by the Northern Pike being more spotted, while the Chain Pickeral has chain-like marking and the tail more forked and the dorsal fin more pointed. While closely related, I would have to lean more towards the Chain Pickeral. Anyone familiar with both of these members of the Pike family willing to chime in?
What kind of fish did I catch? I just got back from a short vacation to southern Florida and while I was down there I caught a fish that is a little confusing to identify. I took a picture and was told that it was a peacock bass but I'm pretty sure it had teeth. It was probably two pounds with the main body being green and fading into gold at the lower body. It also had six black stripes starting at the top of its body and fading towards the belly of the fish. I've always thought that peacock bass do not have teeth. I only took a quick glance at it's mouth before pulling the lure out with a pair of plyers. What I thought I saw was very small teeth that were close together. Was I mistaken? It also had a very flat body instead of what I'm use to with a largemouth bass (the body was kind of like a bluegill or a crappie). I know peacocks are not actually bass but they always looked like very similar in build. Thanks for the help. FOUND IT!!! Mayan Cichlid Sheepshead was close but the coloring was wrong. This fish was very brightly colored, not black and white. Thanks anyway.
What kind of fish is this? (Florida)? I was just fishing in a freshwater retention pond. In this pond, I've seen Largemouth Bass, Bluegill, Catfish, and even a freshwater eel. The fish in the photo below is one I've NEVER seen before. I don't live far from the Gulf of Mexico, so it may very well be a brackish or saltwater fish thrown into the pond as a prank. Any ideas? http://www.167clan.net/0310001805c.jpg (This picture is hosted at my own personal website. I use it as my photobucket.) Additional Pictures: http://www.167clan.net/0310001805.jpg http://www.167clan.net/0310001805a.jpg Also.. Something that may be of use.. He had reddish eyes and the tips of his fins were reddish.
Picture this! What lure would you be fishing with? Ok, picture this. You're on a partly stained man-made lake in .... Southeastern Kentucky! It's a 710-acre lake, with good populations of bass, walleye & crappie. (Fishing for bass.) The water is medium-depth, with signs of 12-14 inch bass in the shallows, along the shoreline. There isn't much cover for bass, w/ a couple man-made structures for them to hang out. Approximately %60 of the bass being largemouth, with the spotted bass coming 2nd, and the smallmouth bass at third. There's a couple boats out on the spot, creating ripples on the water. Lot's of huge shad & bluegills w/ minnows & crayfish nearly absent. The bass are looking lazy, and you're kind of looking for a reaction bite instead of hunger. 5 lb. bass are not uncommon but, most bass caught are between 14-18 inches, with some brutes heading toward 8 lbs. Soooo ... What lures & equipment would you be a tossin'? Early Spring. Rooster Tail, good lure, got a couple in my tackle box too. I agree bassplayer, that pop-r would be deadly in this place. The Rapala floating minnow would be a choice of mine also. Pucknut, the shad/bluegill skirted spinnerbaits are killer. Nice pick.
Need help with identification of some of the fish I have caught? I have several pictures that I have taken from my phone of the fish I have caught. Some of these I think I know what they are, but I am not quite sure. If you could let me know the exact kind of fish, like not just a crappie, but is it a black crappie or whatever. I have really got into fishing this summer and want to learn. 1) She actually caught this, but didn't want to touch it all so I held it while she was in the background haha. This is a crappie correct? What kind of crappie? http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/397/ayanawithbass.jpg 2) I thought this one was a bluegill at first, but it looks kinda different to me. The tail looks too long to be bluegill, but I'm not sure. http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/1998/sunfish.jpg 3) This is probably the smallest fish I have ever caught. Is this a crappie? http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/39/img0422eb.jpg 4) I'm guessing crappie here again but not sure. Can't really notice it in this pic, but its mouth opened pretty wide so not sure if it is a smaller largemouth bass? http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/5505/img0424ta.jpg Thanks!

How can I catch bigger largemouth bass? I fish a lot in a bass pond, and normally catch about 10-12 inch largemouth bass. My friend, who fishes in the pond says theres 4ft pike in the pond, and she has pictures of her catching really big bass. She also is curious why im not catching these bigger fish...im using the bait she recommends, which is fake black worms and leeches. I also use spinner baits, and other jigs. Any suggestions on new baits, techniques or areas to fish??? Thanks!!
How to hold a Largemouth Bass properly? So I've been meaning to ask this for awhile now, but never got around to it. I know how to hold smaller fish such as sunfish and crappie, but I have trouble holding larger fish, such as Largemouth Bass, and striped Bass. They always tend to flop right out of my grip, onto the ground, or into the water. And this has happened several times with fish I would like to have a picture with before I released it. Can anyone help me? I'm 14, but I have large hands. Thanks-- Kaleb
Is Manabu Kurita a sport bass fisherman or he just got lucky? I guess what I am asking is that was he fishing for bass like we do here in USA? Is sport fishing for largemouth bass a sport like it is here? Do people buy tricked out bass boats and high dollar gear for sport bass fishing? I saw one picture of him sitting in a yellow boat holding the world record bass and it looked like they same type of boat people in America sport fish in bass competitions with. Do Japanese people sport fish for bass? Was Manabu Kurita a known bass fisherman prior to this catch?
