Where is the best place and the best guide in Florida for swordfish fishing? One of the items on my husbands "Bucket List" is to go out to do some Swordfish fishing in the Florida Keys. His 39th birthday is coming up on March 31st and I would love to purchase a trip to Florida for some fun, sun and fishing. We live in Houston so I am completely unaware of the best places to go.

Anybody know a good and inexpensive live shiner fishing guide for Lake Tarpon and/or other Central, FL lakes? I asked this question before and never got a definitive answer. I'm trying to decide to go down to Florida in late March-late May. What is the best time to get huge bass with live golden shiners? Also, I am planning definitely hiring a guide to fish Lake Tarpon but also hiring a guide to fish another lake like Okeechobee but I don't know what other lake is a hot spot RIGHT NOW. I think I heard that Okeechobee isn't that good because of the drought. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Where to collect fish and coral in the Florida Keys? Hi, I'm traveling to the Florida Keys later on this month. First of all, let me start by saying that I do know the laws, regulations and requirements for collecting fish in Florida: http://myfwc.com/docs/RulesRegulations/2009_July_RegsSummary_Newsletter.pdf (page 14) So please, don't tell me it is completely illegal, and cannot be done. I know what can and cannot be collected, furthermore I do know how to care for these creatures as I am an experienced hobbyist. My question again is: where would be a good place to collect these fish and coral in the Florida Keys. Last few times I went to the keys I went snorkeling in Bahia Honda and there is plenty of marine life there, however according to their guide: http://www.floridastateparks.org/bahiahonda/docs/SnorkelinglGuide%20toMarineLifeofBahiaHonda.pdf it says nothing can be taken from there, except for crab and lobster while they are in season. I do not have the money at this time to afford a diving trip, so please, if you can, suggest a site that may be accessible by the beach like Bahia Honda is. I really appreciate your help and expertise!

Where Is My Father? Ask the computer.? The Ultimate Computer stood at the end of the Ultimate Computer Company's production line. At which point, the guided tour eventually arrived. The salesman stepped forward to give his prepared demo. "This," he said, "is the Ultimate Computer. It will give an intelligent answer to any question you may care to ask it." A smartass who ran a humor mailing list stepped forward and asked, "Where is my father?" There was the soft hum of powerful electronic gear going to the task. Panel lights lit and blinked, and within a couple of seconds the laser printer printed out a piece of paper: "Fishing off Florida." The smartass laughed, "Actually, my father is dead! It was a trick question." The salesman, quickly thinking on his feet, replied that he was sorry the answer was unsatisfactory, but as the Ultimate Computer was precise, perhaps a rewording of the question might work better. The smartass said to the Ultimate Computer, "Where is my mother's husband?" Again, the hum of the powerful electronic brain filled the room. After a moment, the laser printer whirred to life. The paper said, "Dead. But your father is still fishing off Florida."
The Ultimate Computer, how good is it? The Ultimate Computer stood at the end of the Ultimate Computer Company's production line. At which point the guided tour eventually arrived. The salesman stepped forward to give his prepared demo. "This", he said, "is the Ultimate Computer. It will give an intelligent answer to any question you may care to ask it". At which a Clever Dick stepped forward - there is always one - and spoke into the Ultimate Computer's microphone. "Where is my father"? he asked. There was a whirring of wheels and flashing of lights that the manufacturers always use to impress lay people, and then a little card popped out. On it were printed the words "Fishing off Florida." Clever Dick laughed. "Actually", he said, "my father is dead"! It had been a tricky question!! The salesman, carefully chosen for his ability to think fast on his feet, immediately replied that he was sorry the answer was unsatisfactory, but as computers were precise, perhaps he might care to rephrase his question and try again? Clever Dick thought, went to the Ultimate Computer and this time said, "Where is my mother's husband"? Again there was a whirring of wheels and a flashing of lights. And again a little card popped out. Printed on it were the words: "Dead. But your father is still fishing off Florida."
Anyone for family jokes? Telling Time Just after I got married, I was invited out for a night with “the boys.” I told my new bride that I would be home by midnight … promise! Well, one tall tale led to another while everyone bought me drinks. Before I knew it, it was almost 3:00 a.m. Drunk as a skunk, I took a cab home. Just as I got in the door, the cuckoo clock started, and cuckooed 3 times. Quickly I realized she’d probably wake up, so I cuckooed another 9 times. I was really proud of myself, having the quick wittedness — even when smashed — to escape a possible conflict. Next morning, the misses asked me what time I got in. I told her 12 o’clock. Whew! Got away with that one! She then told me that we needed a new cuckoo clock. When I asked her why she said “Well, it cuckooed 3 times, said ‘dang it,’ cuckooed another 4 times, belched, cuckooed another 3 times, cleared its throat, and cuckooed twice and then giggled.” -- The Ultimate Computer The Ultimate Computer stood at the end of the Ultimate Computer Company’s production line as the guided tour arrived. The salesman stepped forward to give his prepared demo. “This,” he said, “is the Ultimate Computer. It will give an intelligent answer to any question you ask it.” At which a doubting customer stepped forward and spoke into the Ultimate Computer’s microphone. “Where is my father”? There was a whirring of wheels and the screen read: “Fishing off Florida.” The smart-aleck customer laughed. “Actually,” he said, “my father is dead!” It had been a trick question! The salesman, carefully chosen for his ability to think fast on his feet, immediately replied that he was sorry the answer was unsatisfactory, but as computers were precise, perhaps he might care to rephrase his question and try again? The customer thougt a bit, went to the Ultimate Computer and this time said, “Where is my mother’s husband?” Again there was a whirring of wheels and a flashing of lights before the message popped up on the monitor: “Dead. But your father is still fishing off Florida.” -- Proud Mothers Three mothers are sitting on a park bench in Miami Beach talking about (what else?) how much their sons love them. Sadie says, “You know the Chagall painting hanging in my living room? My son, Arnold, bought that for me for my 75th birthday. What a good boy he is, and how much he loves his mother.” Minnie says, “You call that love? You know the Eldorado Cadillac I just got for Mother’s Day? That’s from my son Bernie. What a doll.” Shirley says, “That’s nothing. You know my son Stanley? He’s in analysis with a psychoanalyst on Park Avenue, no less. Five session a week–$200 a hour, and what does he talk about? Me.” -- Worthless “I’m ashamed of the way we live,” a young wife said to her lazy husband who refused to find a job. “My father pays our rent. My mother buys all of our food. My sister buys our clothes. My aunt bought us a car. I’m just so ashamed.” The husband rolled over on the couch. “You should be ashamed,” he agreed. “Those two worthless brothers of yours never give us a cent.”

HELP ON ESSAY This essay is supposed to be a surprising reversal to persuade the viewer, help? This essay is supposed to be a surprising reversal to persuade the viewer that sharks are not purposely man eating animals. I know there is something missing, and maybe it's even horrible. I'm really bad at essay. so please help me out? Underestimated Fish When imagining a shark all is thought of is their monstrous flesh ripping teeth, their muscular bodies speeding through the ocean in search of their next victim. Sharks by nature are vicious sea creatures that lunge onto their prey in a split second. It’s enough to see it’s huge fin peeking out of the mysterious ocean, shinning from the suns rays, to let out a horrifying scream of “shark!” Most people jump at the site of a dark figure in the water. Sharks are known for crudely ripping off human body parts and attacking innocent civilians. In addition to this, television and movies do not better the shark’s image in any way. They portray sharks as heartless man-eating beasts with no purpose. But are sharks really intentionally attacking humans? Or are the just poor hungry animals that mistake us for food? Sharks couldn’t be more mistaken than any other animal on this planet. Sharks do not go in search for humans to eat, if not then the beach would not be open to the public. These docile animals are only trying to survive, it’s not their fault their animal instincts misguide them sometimes. True that sharks aren’t the nicest animals out there. But compared to other animals they’re pretty decent. In fact, sharks are number 9 in the Top 10 most dangerous animals in the world (AOL travel). “An estimated 100 fatalities a year (AOL Travel)” are due to sharks. This is a good number in comparison of the number of deaths in a year. There are more than 100 deaths per day in the world!."Falling coconuts kill 150 people worldwide each year, 15 times the number of fatalities attributable to sharks," said George Burgess, Director of the University of Florida's International Shark Attack File and a noted shark researcher. There are very few people in this world that can say that they have seen a live unexpected shark attack Some sharks are just not harmful. For example, tiger sharks have been called "garbage cans of the sea" because they feed opportunistically on both live food and carrion. This classification of sharks feed on other sharks, marine mammals, seabirds, and etc. Many species of sharks eat only at the bottom of the ocean. Bottom feeders use the upper jaw to help pick up prey items; for example, the horn shark (Busch Gardens). Sharks have earned their reputations by movies such as JAWS (1975) and Deep Blue Sea. JAWS is the first major motion picture that showed sharks as vicious animals. The entire movie is based on a struggle to get away from a humongous and deadly 25-foot shark. It brainwashes the viewer in to thinking that sharks would actually circle a small town just waiting for the next person to get in to the water. If this isn’t enough, at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida stands a ride based on this movie. The ride starts out as just a normal tour and then turns into a fight for life. Out of a man made sea a huge mechanical great white shark starts attacking the boat with no purpose. Then the tour guide starts shooting the shark until it appears dead. These rides are designed for people of all ages. Therefore, small children who see this will always have this image of an aggressive shark implanted in their mind. Their true perception of sharks will always be corrupt. This may have contributed to the common belief of man-eating sharks. In reality, shark attacks on human are merely just careless mistakes. Cheerios? from Honey-Hut Cheerios? are easily mistaken. Well this is exactly what happens to a shark. Except mistakes like those can add up to a great deal of casualties. Sharks only attack prey; they can mistake someone in a body suit for a seal. Also, surfboards on the oceans surface can be mistaken as sea lions as well. Sharks are not colorblind, contrary to common belief. This is known because of the presence of cone cells in their retinas. This can indicate that bright colors such as red can attract a shark. That is why sharks might attack someone with an open wound. Similar to cats, they have a light-reflecting layer to enhance their night vision (Scubadoc's Diving Medicine Online). Therefore it is much dangerous to go in the water at night. At night is when most fisherman swim. It is not the shark’s fault that they have sensitive vision. Sharks are basically judged by their “cover”. Just because they are big and have millions of sharp teeth society automatically believe they are monsters looking to terrorize any one they can. What they didn’t think of is that maybe these attributes are necessary for survival. Nature had to process one animal with qualities more powerful than the rest in order to have a healthy cycle of life. So before thinking of a shark as a mindless eating machine remember, they are living orga
Can you guys identify what kind of fish this is? When I was SCUBA diving a year ago at a reef of the cost of Destin Florida, I observed a very strange creature. One of our guides said it was a "Spanish Dancer", however traditionally a Spanish Dancer is a colorful mollusk and this only shared some charateristics. Hopefully you folk might have some thoughts on it. It was a dark purple (or blue or black) creature. My thoughts are that it was a sea slug or mollusk or some kind. It had a tube like body roughly 12 inches long and running along it's back were two long fins (almost wing like). It floated and moved slowly by waving it's fins. It moved very gracefully and glided from reef to reef. Any thoughts???
