Bass fishing soft bait lures? I go fishing about every other day for largemouth bass in a lake nearby. i usually use soft bait (only ones available for me) and i was wondering whether its better for them to be big soft baits or smaller soft baits. please reply if possible.
what type of bass fishing lure do you like the best and which one works the best? i want to buy bass lures becausse i dont want to keep spending my money on bait everytime i go fishing. what bass lures work the best? ive use spinner bait and plastic worm but i dont seem to catch anything. what type of lures work the best for bass or pike? and if you have a picture of the lure then that would be great cuz i want to see what im trying to buy at the store.
What to charge for bass fishing lures? I used to be into bass fishing big time. I eventually grew tired of it and sold my boat. I still have a lot - like several hundred crank baits and spinner baits and thousands of soft plastic worms, lizards, etc. A large majority are brand new and some are still in original packaging. My wife and her family are planning a garage sale and I thought I might try to sell them, but I'm unsure as to what to price them at. I was thinking maybe 50 cents for the crank baits and spinner baits, and 25 cents for the bags of soft plastics. Would that be reasonable? Some of these lures cost 4 to 5 dollars new. I want to price them low enough to sell, but I don't want to give them away either. Any bass fishermen out there with any ideas? Thanks.
Bass fishing ? What is the best bait/Lure to use while fishing for bass ? what has worked well for you ?
Bass fishing lures and stuff? I am an intermediate fisher and I want to know what kind of stuff should I use to catch some nice Rock or Smallmouth Bass. I used to use live bait but now I am trying jigs and spinners. Any advice? and any suggestion on colors
best bass fishing lures? I've been fishing with my dad for a while now, and all we've used is really black zoom plastic worms, a spinner bait now and then, and a horny toad. So we have a tournament coming up Saturday, and I was lookin' for tips n' some new lures to try, and suggestion/tip is appreciated. I would love the brands you guys use!
Fishing for black bass in very hot conditions? Hello I live in the Philippines, I am planning to fish in a lake teeming with Black bass. temperature would be 32-36 degrees Celsius in the day, it gets cooler in the late afternoons and evenings. What time would it be ideal to fish? what lure/bait to use? and what is the ideal sizes of the lures? thanks

Bass fishing? Can anyone tell me accurate information on what to use(baits), locations, and possibly more!?!?! What does it eat, lures and baits, does the superior frog work, kinds, living patterns, locations, prefered weather, time of year, places to fish for them, and possibly more? Please, only for the avid fishermen and others, please dont give bad answers. Ty
What is a good bass lure for fishing over/around hydrilla? I fish at this lake filled with hydrilla in many areas. I have found this one area where i have seen a lot of large bass cruising by. I don't have a lure that can tough through this gunk! The Wormist has recommended some of those Rage Tail toads but i just can't afford them at this moment. Any bait that is similar to the rage tail that will work? If not, then what would you recommend? Thanks Wormist.
Bass fishing in clear water? I fish in California I fish in Dixon lake The water is very clear and i just found out it's illegal to use native sculpins and sunfish as bait. i fish from 6:00 am to 11:00 am From what i've hear ealier people have suggested me going after these picky bass with reaction lures such as buzz baits and poppers. Should i only use buz-baits and popper when it's windy? and what lure do you think is most effective in clear water? Are plastic swimbaits any good? P.S. bass do not go after nightcrawlers or plastic worms at dixons.
Whiskeytown fishing (clear water tips)? i need some insight on fishing at whiskeytown lake in north state, CALIF. im use to fishing in 'the delta' and cant get used to the crystal clear waters of whiskeytown. the other source of my frusteration is not having a boat. is there any tips for sucess you can share about fishing off the banks of whiskeytown or other clear ass waters? what line is best? is there a kind of braided line that is suited for clear water? A couple more of my frusterations are: they dont let you use live bait, its hard to reach deep water while fishing from the bank, and the water is freakin cold so the bass dont hardly become aggresive. the temperature warms up in the summer at like the top 3 ft of the surface. I'd like tips on bass fishing with bait, bass fishing with lures in shallow, and summer trout fishing in shallow.
I just recently got into fishing big swim baits for bass. But I have a small problem.? Ok, it's a huge problem. Casting distance. How in the HELL do some of these guys that I see cast their lures so far? I've practiced and practiced, and on a good day, these guys are throwing them 120, 130, 150ft! On a good day, I can barely make it at 70ft! My girlfriend got me into it. She was watching something on either History Channel or National Geographic about big bass and swim baits. She said I would probably catch more and bigger fish. So she bought me a rod and reel that she thought could handle the heavy weights of some of these lures: Shimano Calcutta 400B reel and G. Loomis Big Bait GL2-966 8' Mag-Hvy rod rated for 3-10oz lures and 25-45lb mono. I love her. Anyway... she also bought almost a housand dollars worth of baits for me also: a couple Castaic Rock Hards, Castaic Platinums, different sizes of Huddlestons, A couple Mattlures Hards and Baby Bass Series, three different SPRO BBZ-1s, Stocker Trouts and two different colors of Tru-Tungsten Tru-Life Trouts. For Christmas, she's trying to find the 5 different Jerry Rago trouts... Anyway, I feel like I'm bragging. My question is: How can I get the distance some of these guys are getting? Like I said, at most I can get is about 70ft... these guys are easily doubling that. I have the brake backed off almost all the way, I'm using 30lb Sufix mono on my reel... I'm letting the lure hang down from the tip between 3-4ft. I watch these guys close. I've tried side-hand casting, overhand, everything they do, but I still can't figure what I'm doing wrong. Some of these guys are really secretive about their techniques and pretty reclusive, they don't like sharing ANY info or helping anybody. So I'm hoping there's people here that fish these big baits that can help me. Thanks in advance. Nathan: Yeah, fishing in California. Castaic mostly, sometimes Casitas. slept on & terby: I don't do the Rapala thing. Rusty Nail: Just like Grand Master Basser said, 10 or 12lb line can't handle these big baits. The weight of any of them would pop the line and snap the tip of a light rod. In a heartbeat. Jan: What's the other direction your're talking about? I don't quite understand what you meant. The Wormist: Lol! PINK Ande mono? What kind of muskie rod are you using? Does Loomis not offer a lifetime warranty on their rods? I wasn't aware that Shimano even made a heavy swimbait rod, let alone offered a lifetime warranty. Wouldn't 50lb braid be a little heavy, not that 30lb mono isn't much lighter? dhughes214: Medium-heavy rods aren't made for casting big, heavy lures. the catfisher: True, but practice is still not enough. Alex: You mean deadsticking it? JaimeTheBartender: Yeah, I know how you feel. I went To Castaic yesterday and I'm still feeling it in my lower back and shoulders. And yes, the subject of marriage has come up. She's an only child, sorry. Explains why she's spoiled and has money all the time. I'm having a hell of a time trying to choose a Best Answer. I can't pick between Nathan S, The Wormist, and Grand Master Basser, its a tie with those three! Is there anyway I can give all three of you the credit?
Your in a bass fishing tournament, only allowed to bring 5 lures, what are they? You're in this new bass tournament out in the deep south, where bass grow huge. The water is far from clear, so there is no sight fishing. You enter the tournament thinking it's just any old tournament, and to find out, you can only take 5 lures with you. FIVE!!! What would they be? Here's what i would take. (NO SOFT PLASTICS, they are not allowed in the tournament, only hard-baits.) 1.) Cotton Cordell Super Spot. In some situations, i like it better than a Rat-L-Trap, and it has proved to be MORE productive than the Rat-L-Trap. Even though i think they are both great lures. 2.) Bill Lewis Rat-L-Trap. They will bring in bass in the muddiest of waters, around the world. I would stick to a bright color, such as firetiger, or chartreuse. 3.) 1/2 oz. Booyah Spinnerbait. The bass should be able to feel, and see the big spinnerbait. I would have a chartreuse/white skirted one. 4.) Strike King Pro Model 1/4 oz. Crankbait, yea you guessed it, in Sexy Shad color. 5.) Rebel Pop-R in Green Perch. Even though hardly any tournaments are won with poppers, i would still want to see a bass hit one hard, and it may be more productive than the other lures. What would you bring?
What lures for bass should i use on the Susquehanna? Ok so I am going to be taking a fishing trip this summer in the middle of june. I am going to the Susquehana(down in dauphin county) to fish for bass. I was hoping someone out there who has fished this river previously could tell me what works well. I had a couple crank baits, rapala makes, in mind but i wanna know specifically what lure works well, not just general terms like spoons and jigs.
Great gift for "boys" bass fishing trip in Canada? My boyfriend, who is 28, is going on his annual boys bass fishing trip in Canada with his two best friends and I wanted to make a little basket of goodies for him for the trip. I'm already playing Susie Homemaker and made Rice Krispie treats (yeah, his favorite) for the ride, but I wanted to get him some fishing stuff. I was thinking baits/lures, etc. He has a 17" bass boat which they'll be on. My only real hang-up is I don't know much about the fishing in Canada where he'll be, but they're big bass fishermen, however, I know he's also caught Northern Pike and such up there. I think he's going to Eagle Lake, btw. I'm going for kick-a** gf of the year here. Ideas would be greatly appreciated!
fishing for largemouth bass? ok so im going to my moms, step sisters, property and they have 2 tanks (ponds). and i wanna go large mouth bass fishing. i want to use lures, not worms. no plastic bait LURES like crank bait spinner bait etc. so i dont know how big the bass are but i think they stalked them with 1 lb last year. and this is the dallas texas area so its warmer. i dont know the kind or size to fish with but i need to have equipment for all of mamorial weekend. i will not be doing ANY night fishing because there are ALOT of snakes around there. i would like to know the brand, type, size, price, where to buy, and a link of a picture if possible. i would like every thing to be at bass pro and cheep and i need equipment that is good for 1 lb. bass and higher because i have no idea how big the bass are. also i would like some info on perch/blue gill but i think i have that covered just some worms for them. i would like to use top waters, crank baits, any thing, thats a lure.
Do I use sinkers when using a frog lure for largemouth bass fishing? Is it necessary to use sinkers with a power frog (a rubber frog lure made by power bait co.) lure when fishing for largemouth bass, do you want the frog to sink or float on the surface. There are plenty of frogs at the pond, and I would assume not use sinkers, although ive noticed when a frog sees me near they swim underwater and then pop back up after a certain distance. oh yes I have a jig hook on it, duh me, thats what the little ball at the end is for, awesome!
Cleaning Fishing Lures? I am wondering how to get the essence of catfish bait off of my bass lures without putting off the fish with a soapy smell. Good way to clean em? anyone know? There is an assortment of lures. Spinnerbaits, crankbaits, jigs, rattle traps....
freshwater fish and lures? Ok, so about fresh water fishing i go fishing in massachusetts and now sometimes in rhode island i live in ri but when i see fam in massachusetts i fish there but my question is the lure/bait u would use for bass fishing would you use for regular fresh water fishing? such as specific lures, shiners, rapalas, etc ( and im not saying if u salt water fish for bass, then go fresh water fishing, im just saying if u use certain lures for bass fishing can u use them to catch perch, crappie's, pickerel, bluegill, etc) so once again can you use the lure's that you'd use to catch bass, to catch common fresh water fish, because i cant find any specific lures that are fore the fish i mentioned ^
What should i use for bass fishing? I have always fished for catfish, and recently fished for bass for the first time. I thought it was really fun, but i need some help. Can I use bass lures on catfish? I'VE NEVER BEEN CATFISH FISHING, I HAVE NOTHING BUT BASS LURES AND TACKLE. BESIDES THE LEADERS IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE I CAN USE? DO SPINNERS OR BUZZ BAITS OR ANYTHING WORK ON CATFISH?
What is your "Go To" lure/bait for night bass fishing? I'm just curious to know your go to lure for Largemouth Bass (LMB) for these conditions: Bank fishing 85 degrees Less than 10 feet deep Clear, open water. My go to bait has to be a Carolina rigged purple or black Craw imitation made by Zoom. It always seems to pull in the fish. Although buzzbaits are always fun. Happy fishing! Forgot to mention that it would be at a small golf course pond.
How should i fish bass lures if i dont have a boat? I fish for largemouth bass and i have a variety of hardbaits and many soft plastics. I dont have a boat so what i want to know is how i should use lures and how i should reel them in to simulate a live bait.
What are some good fishing lures/baits for the follow species? As a fishing "greenhorn" , I am currently fishing in a brackish lake infested with tonnes of fish! Striped bass, gaspereau ( alewife) , salmon, speckle/rainbow/brown , perch, and flounder. There are no pike, walleye or lake trout in this lake. I am interested in knowing some good ideas for bait. So far I have : Nightcrawlers on a treble hook, rapala crank lures, power bait, synthetic and dead preserved minnows, powerbait dough and eggs (minimal success though) and Yum! crawfish. Any suggestions on what else I could use? I bought some rooster tails and meeps lures to try out, PS (i'm trying to lunk a big bass, as a world record bass was caught in this area before). I'd like to try wet flies with a weight on a spincast rod. Any suggestions? The area is North-Eastern Cape breton, Canada.
How do you bass fish with soft plastic lures? I am no stranger to bass fishing, however I have NEVER fished with soft plastics and it's kicking my butt in tournaments this time of year. All my experience is on hardbaits like: crank baits, spinners, popper, etc. I have an idea on how to rig the soft plastics (Texas, and Carolina anyway) but what do I do with it once it hits the water? How do I know there's a fish on the line? Lastly what colors and lures are good under what conditions? Thanks
good bass fishing spots? i live in mercer county new jersey. can anyone please tell me some good lake and ponds in the area? also, what is the best bass fishing bait or lure?

More information: I live in central california, and I'm fishing out of a little lake right now, from the shore. The lake is pretty clean and it doesn't have much cover The structure of the lake is soft, I guess (Lots of vegetation on the bottom) The water is pretty murky/cloudy as opposed to being clear Perch are the dominant species there but there are lots of bass (although I'm not sure of what species/size [large-mouth/small-mouth, if that even exists, etc.) I also believe there are a few catfish, too. Also, I'm interested in catching the catfish too, if they do occupy that lake, which I will check on. If they do, will any of these baits or lures catch them? Thanks so much in advance.
What is better live bait or lures? I have used lures for bass fishing pretty much all my life but what do you find works better? It seems like the bigger bass go after live bait more often than lures is this true?
Bass fishing must haves? Hey everyone! My friends and I love to go fishing and we are going to start going out on the lake bass fishing. We normally just fish from the bank at a dam for channel catfish and other fish. What are some must have things for someone just starting to fish for bass? Things like lures, line, bait, etc. Also i have a cheap rod that i got for like 10 bucks so im going to need a better rod, this one sucks... So any good beginner rod and reels would be great to. Im not trying to spend a boat load of cash since i dont know how much we will like this. Thanks!

Bass Fishing bait tips please? Hello, I live in tampa FL(where the water is warm lol) and I know there is NO best bait. I just need tips on GOOD ways and type of bait to catch larger or small mouth bass on. The lake is on a public and buisy road but people are allowed to fish on it. My dad watch 2 guys last week catch two 2lb basses(I know they are small) but I know you can still eat them. He did not find out how they caught them though. And I want to know the CHEAPEST WAY there is to possibly catch a bass. Bait, lure does not matter. And i never had luck casting lures that are light. One page I read you should throw the lure about 50 yards(spinnerbait), but when it is light how do you throw it 40 - 50 yards. Please help.
