how different is small mouth bass from large mouth bass fishing? well i am a large mouth bass fisherman and know alot about it basikly i think of myself as a semi pro but since i no longer live near the lakes i always fished and live near many local lakes with one public access and one spot to fish from shore (im a shore fisherman, i own no boats) the rest of the lake access are from houses along the entire lake so i asked a techer about spots to fish and he pointed me towards the river near our area for small mouth. most of my lures are for large mouths like 5-8 inch senkos 4 inch hard swimbaits and medium to large crankbaits like rapalas and medium sized ratl-traps bass spinnerbaits and buzzbaits and inline spinners, are these still good for small mouths? there are a few largemouths in the river but not enough that i can target them only. so are the lures i have still work? im basikly asking what diference can i expect with lures and technique of fishing shuld i expect besides the fish and the fight they give. ARTIE ur a pissed off guy who looks for people to yell at. im not an idiot i know all about how weather and water clearity and all those crap and how it effects fishing i learned it all from research and youtube in just a year and that was wen i hadnt fished for years and i was only 14 and wen i could finaly drive myself to go fish and targetting only largemouth i was very succcessful because of how much time i spent learning about LARGEMOUTH BASS but small mouth are different and i strayed away from them because were i fish the only way to get smallies was from boat to get to the deep areas of the lake and other than that here in MN not EVERYSINGLE lake has smallies you need to find lakes with a decent smallie population to actually target them. you just hate other fishermen that may show more skill than you. i know i was being somewhat cocky but who dosnt get cocky when it comes to fishing semi pro was to show i am not a beginner but not pro just that i kno wat im doing
What baits to use for Bass in Heavy Cover? Situation: I am helping a beginner bass fisherman try to catch fish from heavy milfoil (grows all the way to the surface.) What is the best and easiest snagless presentation? I was thinking about spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, weedless spoons, jitterbugs etc. Please give me your top 3 techniques. I am going to hold off on suggesting flipping or pitching jigs or lizards as my freind does not have the setup or experience to fish plastics this way.
how to use a spinnerbait i have lots of spinner baits and i went to lake george and the bass fishing was insane. but now im back in CT and the spinnerbaits have not had the same production. it might have something to do wiht my technique. i was also wondering if the water needs to be a certain depth, and if it needs to be on the bottom or top. and if you could tell me when to use them, such as night or day, ponds or lakes, rain, shine etc. i am fishing in a type of resavour type water if this helps.
What are the ideal characteristics of a spinnerbait rod? Fishing for largemouth bass, does the ideal spinnerbait rod have a soft tip or a hard tip? Do I want a medium action (more of a parabolic bend) or do I want a fast action (bends more toward the tip) or an extra-fast action (flexes only at the tip? I already have crankin' rods and worm rods and am trying to figure out if they're suitable for spinnerbaits or if I need to go out and buy a technique-specific rod for spinnerbaits. I'd appreciate answers to these same questions but for a rod for fishing Basstrix-type swimbaits too. Thanks.
Pike fishing: What to use? I have to admit... I'm new to Pike fishing. Last time I went to the lake for bass I ended up catching a few 20-35 inch pike. I used a 3/8 ounce buzzbait at the time. Here are my questions: 1: What are the best lures to use when it's 90 degrees outside, shore fishing near points, rock piles, and trees growing out of the lake. 2: How necessary is a steel leader? and if it is necessary, what line strength should I use along with my 8lb mono? 3: Fishing techniques... How should I fish the lures you recommend? 4: I have a few lures I think will work well for Pike but I'd like your opinions. I have a DareDevle spoon. A lot of 1/8, 1/4, and 3/8 ounce buzzbaits. A couple 1/4 and 3/8 ounce Spinnerbaits, Some small minnows on a 1/16 ounce jig head. A Booyah Chatterbait that I think will work great. and various crankbaits and jigs and a lot of soft plastics. -- Answer as many questions as you want. The more you answer the more it will help me. Best answer to the most helpful answer. Thanks :)

Good fishing lures and techniques for a weedy pond? I was recently fishing a very scummy and weedy MONSTER bass and MONSTER pike pond off a main river, but question is how do I get them to bite. I've tried scum frogs, gulp worm, jitterbugs, poppers, zara spooks, stanley ribbit frogs, yum money hounds, and nothing will bite anything, and its hard to fish it with cranks, buzzbaits even spinnerbaits because of the scum on top of the water and the weeds 6 inches from the surface, fishing them slow, meduim, or fast, nothing, and their in there because I can see them jump and feeding on topwater, please give me some tips.
how to use inline spinnerbaits? there's a spot i know of that is good for catching largemouths, smallies, white bass, and crappie. I've caught some bigger fish on lipless crankbaits there but i'm wondering i'll have more luck with catching more fish (smaller ones) if i switch to an inline spinner. i've only used them for trout. so if i were to use an inline spinner in murky water, what color and size should i use? will i need a weight? is there any techniques to using them that i should know of?
How to use Crankbaits, Spinnerbaits, Jig and Pig, Bucktail Jig, Topwater Plugs, and Tail Spinners? I have them in my tackle box, but I never had any intentions to use them because I don't know how. I hear you are suppose to cast and reel in and a technique to mimic a real fish. But these lures are so light, am I suppose to put any weights on them, and if so how? Or am I just suppose to use them the way it is? Are these lures made to cast far from where you are standing? Are these lures specifically made for black bass? What other fish can these catch? What about stripers? I also have a unopen box of plastic worms, I think they are senkos. How would I use these? They don't have any scent so I think they aren't meant to be used as a dropshot. Are senko plastic worms also used as a lure?
why cant i catch bass? i posted this a couple days ago didnt get any answers i wanted rely i was just told to find where the bass are thats the problem how do you do that im not on a boat so i dont have a fish tracker i fish off the land into the river i have used crankbaits fake worms such as gary yamamoto senkos yum crawdads spinnerbaits jign shad poppers i have spent a lot of money on tackle to try different things and havent cought one fish if have any tips please help i have also searched youtube for techniques and everything else
Baitcasting in Michigan in December.? Hello, I'm going to be staying next to Lake St. Helen in Northern lower Michigan. I remember it as a shallow Eutrophic carp-hole, but wikipedia is telling me it is home to bass, bluegill, brown trout, crappie, lake trout, perch, pike, rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, and walleye. It's December, but there is no ice on the lake yet (no icefishing). I have a kayak and spinning rods at my disposal. Given this information, what should I try to fish for? My plan was to just walk the shore with spinnerbaits and pray for a pike. Are any of these other species hungry and sassy during the winter months? If so, what techniques would you use to catch them? Thanks a bunch!
Texas-Rigged Worm Fishing Problems? When I fish a worm on a Texas Rig using a bullet weight I rarely catch bass, I live in Orlando, Florida and I usually catch large mouth bass with the texas rig. The way I fish the texas rig is throwing the worm as far as I can, then waiting for the bait to hit the ground(it usually takes 15 seconds), then I slowly reel it back in, jerking the rod so the worm moves. I have also tried multiple colors and brands of crankbaits, swimbaits, and spinnerbaits. I have all the resources, but whatever technique I use on the texas rig, it seems to catch very few fish no matter where I fish.
