striped bass fishing techniques Knowledge Base

Fishing for Striped Bass? I live about three minuted from the Colorado River just outside of Laughlin Nevada. There is not much to do out here so I have decided to take up fishing. I have done my research and have purchased my license but still need help with more information, possibly from people with more then average fishing experience. I know from where I'm fishing there wont be as many fish as there would be further up since the fish coming down towards me are going through one of two different Dams. As of now for this area stripped bass are the fish in abundance. I'd rather fish a lake such as Lake Mohave but that is over two hours away and why go that far from home when there's a river right outside? So here are my questions. 1. What is the best bait for stripped bass? (Live and Dead) 2. What is the more appropriate sized hook for stripped bass? I don't see myself getting some monster being that I'm fishing in the river and not the ocean. 3. Any good techniques for fishing this kind of fish (especially being in a river enviroment)? How to hook the bait? ect. 4. How should I set my pole up? Weight? Bobber? ect. 5. Any other info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
How to fish for striped bass? I need to know how to fish for Saltwater Striped bass. My dad and I fish for Skipjacks. We like it because we catch one fish after the other. Right. So my dad caught a striper. Out of the blue going for skipjacks and we ate it. It was so delicious. I want to go for striper. We go at a good spot where hardly any body knows. Very few go along the rocks and get striper and they catch them. I want to learn how to catch them. Should i attach a live skipjack to a big hook and just cast it out? There a technique in reeling the pole in? Oh sorry. SkipJack is an adolesent form of Blue fish. like Baby blue fish. They are about 10 inchs long.
Spearfishing anybody? What are the rules in the US? Is it allowed? Any DVD s about techniques? I love spearfishing. Actually any type of fishing and wonder if there are ristrictions. When we go fishing for stripe bass the limit is two for example. Do you know any web sites or DVD s about Spearfishing? Is it possible to travel with your spear gun or may be you call it harpoon? If not is it possible to rent spear guns in California or New Jersey? I only hit as much as I will eat. I love cooking fish for friends too.Thank you all.
What is the best way to catch? Striped bass? I usually go with sardines, anchovies, or worms. i can inflate the worms to make them float, and usually get more hits that way, but not with stripers. Is there any different bait or any type of technique that I should employ? Closer to the bank, closer to the middle? I am fishing the American, Sacramento and Feather Rivers. Thanks

I need tips on fishing bass? I'm a total fishing noob but I do enjoy fishing. There's a small lake near my home and I go to it every once and a while. The problem is I hardly ever catch anything! In the last like 6 trips that I've gone, I've caught maybe 6 fish but they were all little hybrid striped bass. the biggest one was about 14 inches. What am I doing wrong? What I do first is throw my net out and catch shad to use as bait. Next, I use my open face pole and cast it as far as I can cast it. Another problem with this is that it only goes about 50 feet maximum from where I cast and I cast from the shore so that's a big problem. I'm physically fit so I think it's a technique problem. If you have any tips, I'd like to have them.
Large mouth Bass and Striped Bass help? Ok so my dad's friend owns this huge pond, and he stocks all kinds of fish in it. 12in. blue gill to 36in. catfish. But he also has bass and striped bass in it. Now I haven't caught any bass yet. I've had a couple of bass on, but had bad luck reeling them in. And those stripe bass will come up to his dock but not bite on anything! Anybody have any techniques or advice on which kind of baits I should use? Thanks for the help :)
Going saltwater fishing on charter boat...? ...how to be ready to catch anything that's biting? From striped bass, porgy, flounder, bluefish, black sea bass, weakfish, tuna, black-fish, etc... Any bait that works for all? (squid) Any rod techniques? (bouncing) I know to have hooks/rigs for all.
How can i catch a trophy fish? I live in an area with a lot of streams, ponds, and the potomac river. I'm from Washington County, Maryland. I've fished a lot in the Conococheague creek, and the "hot wall" in Williamsport. I also own land along the Potomac in Falling Waters, WV. I prefer fishing in creeks because I feel that I catch a significantly greater number of fish in less time than fishing in the river. I catch a ton of striped bass and largemouth bass. I've noticed that the fish are much more responsive to a crawfish lure. The biggest fish I catch are typically 8-11". I want to start fishing in the river, but am unsure of what to do to increase my chances of catching a fish. (sometimes I can fish for hours without even a nibble) I would ideally like to catch a decent sized cat or carp. I'd really like to catch anything of decent size. I've used chicken liver soaked in garlic salt but have had absolutely no luck. Please leave any of the following: Places to fish. Lures/bait to use. Types of fish to fish for. Techniques for fishing. When to fish. Thank you very much!
