bass fishing texas style worm technique? ive been bass fishing for over 30 years.usually 2 to 3 times a week.when i fishing this rig a let is fall then bring the worm up of the bottom a few inches maybe 4 to 7 inches then leting it fall again.ive been seeing the pro's shaking there texas style worm.fast little twitches of the rod whats going on with this.are they doing this now instead of the old technique that has always worked for me?

What type of fish has a blue colored mouth (inside) and looks like a bass but is longer in texas. Wait = 2 pd? I caught this fish in houston, tx it looks like a bass with a dark green tint (no stripes) but is longer and the inside of its mouth is blue. Bass fishing techniques for spring weather changes in Dallas (rain, cold, sun, wind)? Okay, this is for you expert anglers. I fish small local ponds in the Lewisville, Carrollton, Frisco area. The bass were really biting in March, but with all of the cold fronts that have moved through every few days in April, I've really had inconsistent luck. I've generally heard that fishing is better right before a front moves in and that seems to have been right. My issue is that after a big rain or when the air temp drops from the 70-80s to 50-60 for a few days. I am not sure what to do. Can someone help explain the patterns of bass when the air cools down suddenly, when storms/rain comes, when it's really windy (20-30 mph), when it's overcast vs cloudy, and how I should be fishing (lures, techniques, etc) in those conditions in north Texas?

Florida Bass fishing..what lures are best for this? Time of year. we are now post spawn i think and the bite has gone away. I know this B/C i just bought the smart caster (RF25) by Humminbird so i now know where the fish are. I highly recomend bying this item for the shore angler there is nothing better and so much fun. Is there a magazine out there that covers Florida? i do get bassmaster but it seems that it covers the rest of the upper states and as much as i like it i would like to find a magazine that covers only florida/texas as we dont see much of a change in the weather. also is there a teaching video for children somewhere? my nieces and nephews are 6-12 and i have given them the fishing bug but thier dad is no old man in the sea so i would like to show them VIA an instructional video how to fish for the big BASS.. plastic worm fishing for black bass...? I have recently discovered the art of worm fishing and I love it (its not that I didnt know that it existed, i just never realised how good it is for catching fish). With worms Ive been catching more fish than on anything else (used to be hardcore into spinners, buzz baits and cranks....still good baits when I cant get em' on the worm). So I was just wondering...what are your favorite types of worms, lizards, brush hogs, etc? (i want to go purchase some of your favorites and give them a try). Large Bond Bass Fishing Question? I live on a large pond small lake (2 - 3 acres of water) that is shaped like a pork chop (bone-in) in North Texas. The pond is shallow for the most part. 3 feet around the edges and 6-15 at the deepest part of the lake. The clarity is low with plenty of algae (about 1 to 1.5 feet visibility). The bottom is dark, blackish leaves that coat the bottom. There is no vegitation that I know of in the water. There are loads of sunfish, and shad. There are lots of 5-10 pound catfish. I know there are large mouth in the water because I caught one on a small rubber shad. I have also been told be several neighbors that they have seen or caught some bigger 3-5lb bass in the past. Based on this information, as the water warms, what lure should I be using. I have tried several different color jigs (red, blue/black, white, silver) without success. I have tried shallow running crank baits and some rattle trap lures without success. Thanks!

Bass fishing question #3? For most of you guys/girls this should be the easies question of all. "The First" correct answer ends it. Add detail, besides saying one or two words and leaving it like that. While fishing your favorite lake you decide to try a texas rigged worm. Never trying this type of fishing before you rig a 6" worm with a 2/0 worm hook and a 1/4 oz bullet slip sinker. After a few casts you get a strike and set the hook, missed him. This happens about 5 more times during your outing and give up on the style of fishing. What could you have been doing wrong ? Andy and John you should read the question again. A weak hook set is not the answer to this neither. I guess having the fish take the baiit longer and risking him of letting it go and missing the fish all together wouldn't be a problem neither, eh John? Oh and prehaps risk killing a fish that I wasn't going to keep in the first place, unless he/she was a trophy. Why would you change the color of the worm/jig Andy if your already getting so many bites with whats on there already? Don't you think it would be smart to do what "Sexy Bass Fishermen" said do? Changing the size of the hook can make a big difference in catching fish and missing the fish.

Which Bass techniques for fishing plastics in the weeds? My issue is that I want to expand into Largemouth fishing with jigs, Texas-rigged worms with bullet weights as examples. So far, all I end up doing is getting hung up. Is is that I should apply these techniques to different water or ...? I am not pitching or flipping right now (as I dont really know how to do that) but I am open to any technique that will make it so that I dont get hug up as often. I am fishing on a lake that has alot of coontail weeds and I am usually in 5-15ft. There are some shallow areas with sparse clumps of coontail as well some thin grass where it gets really shallow along with some lily pads. Any help on where/how I should be focusing my efforts would be appreciated.

How can I catch largemouth bass that are in an overfished, heavy pressure lake? I fish at a lake that is so over fished, you barely get any bites. I need some ideas of things I can do with non-working baits, to make the bass want to fight for it. Another words, how can I change-up my baits to make them work. Example, take a worm and tie a knot in it and fish texas rigged. I don't think this would work, just an idea of want I;m looking for. Serious answers only please! And I only use artificial bait, no real worms, or minnies. I like this lake because it's within 15 min of my house. If I had another lake closer I'd go there.

Why am I having bad luck Fishing in Grapevine Lake Texas? Recently I blew the dust off my fishing equipment and been going up to a local lake. I'm trying to fish for Large mouth bass, but cant seem to land any. I'm using all my lures and techniques that have worked in the past. Been doing Texas riged Red/black/green rubber worms, Spinners, poppers, Ratalas. I'm starting to think maybe its b/c the new fishing line i put on my rod, i went with some Stealth moss green Spider wire that's 30lb test. I heard a rumor that may be a cause of my bad luck. Not sure if its true but, the lighter the line the more chance you catch fish but also loose them. Any help/suggestion for my problem would be much appreciated. THICK Lily Pad Bass Fishing? My home lake, Gibbon's Creek Reservoir close to College Station, Texas, becomes overgrown in many areas with thick lily pads and hydrilla. It is a power plant lake, and summer is my hardest time to fish it because I have no graph to see deep structure. Because of this I have to find structure I can see on the surface. The lily pads seem my best bet. I cant figure out a good method to fish these seemingly inpenetrable lily pads, but I know there are fish in them. What would you recommend, and do you have any other tips for this lake during summer? It only has two docks, and it is characterized by tons of stumps.(I haven't been doing well around them either) By the way its a fairly small 2,500 acre lake if you haven't heard of it.

i have a few bass fishing rigs i need your opinions on? okay guy (or girls, dont wanna upset anyone....im on my 5th account) i have a few questions i use the texas rig a lot in the brush, and i ran out if the sinkers i need for them, so for the time being will it work if i use a split shot? instead of using a big hook, ive set a few rigs up with 2 hooks (smaller oubiously), texas rigged in front, and i put another hook in the middle of the worm, same rigging, and i took the line, tied it too the back hook, then wrapped it around the front hook...think it will work?

Fishing tips for cloudy weather? I live in texas and fish on lake conroe. Im going to be doing some bass fishing tomorrow morning at sunrise and was wondering if anyone has some cloudy weather fishing tips (the fish are in the shallows now spawning-dont worry...I catch and release). In early morning I usually fish with a buzzbait over and around the "nesting grounds" and then switch to a spinner when the fishing slows down. Ive come to find that fish can sometimes be a little bit more weary on cloudy days...any advice???

I went fishing today, and I got A LOT of bites (little tiny consecutive thumps-sometimes the line moved) but everytime I tried to set the hook, I failed to actually hook any bass. I was fishing a 5 inch watermelon colored dinger with a 3 aught EWG GY Worm Hook Size 3/0 texas rigged. What could I have done wrong?

Bass fishing question, please help a newbie :D? I live in Austin, Texas, and I recently found a stream/river near my house (Barton Springs) that has very clear water. Standing on the bank, I can see several very large bass, along with some medium sized ones. I picked up some equipment, including 3/0 sized hooks, Zoom baby brush hog plastic lures (green), plastic worms (green), and black frog shaped plastic lures with neon green tails. All these pieces of equipment were recommended by an Academy employee. I have also used live worms. I have had absolutely no luck with these baits; I can see the bass, and I drop the lure right in front of their faces (or near them), but they take no interest at all. I have only had luck catching a few small bass using Powerbait Atomic Teaser lures. I am dying to catch one of these monsters, but nothing I use interests them at all. Please give me some tips on what to use and how to use it!!

How do you bass fish with soft plastic lures? I am no stranger to bass fishing, however I have NEVER fished with soft plastics and it's kicking my butt in tournaments this time of year. The river section I will mostly fishing is about 4 feet and has a really light green color waters almost clear. What would you recommend for fast flowing waters, is there bass there?! Bass fishing Houston Texas? Not looking for any secret places, just want to know if anyone knows of some good places (not the lakes because I only have a canoe) to go bass fishing. I usually fish Sheldon Reservoir off of Old 90 and the Beltway and love it out there but I need a new spot to explore and wanted some insight. I will let you other bass fisherman know of a really nice spot that is also off of Old 90 before the river if heading from Dayton toward Crosby that is an ATV madhouse (5 $ to get in) but also has about 7 large ponds full of bass. Its hit and miss but if you get out on the right day you can catch some great bass. Lots of 4 and 5 pounders. I haven't caught anything bigger that that at that spot though. Let me know if you guys know of any good spots.

Texas Rig Bass Fishing Problems? I have a problem using the Texas rig. I catch bass using it, but it takes 2-4 hours for a single fish to bite. Some people are saying to remove the bullet weight so the plastic worm falls slower. But would I keep the hook buried in the worm still? Also, does the worm smell matter? Question about using beads on Texas Rigs for Bass fishing? I know that the beads in this scenario are primarily used (for most people) to protect the knot, but the statement that the noise created by the bullet weight hitting the bead attracts fish (Not to mention the color of the bead working to do the same) seems reasonable.
