What are humdingers and slabs (used for striped and white bass fishing) ??? the lake around here has lots of striped bass ,but i always catfish. and on the fishing report it always says stripers and white bass are good on humdingers and slabs and i dont know what they are. if some one could please tell me where i can find them on the internet i would appreciate it.

Anyone looking for a good guide for striped bass fishing on Cape Cod this summer?

Striped Bass fishing.? If I fish with chunk makeral do I need to use a lead weight? If so how far should the weight be from the bait. If there is no current do I need a weight, if not how far from the bait should I put a bobber. I was thinking of using no weight and about 6-7 feet between bait and bobber. I will be fishing from the beach or the rocks were the water will be about 10 feet deep?

Fishing for Striped Bass? I live about three minuted from the Colorado River just outside of Laughlin Nevada. There is not much to do out here so I have decided to take up fishing. I have done my research and have purchased my license but still need help with more information, possibly from people with more then average fishing experience. I know from where I'm fishing there wont be as many fish as there would be further up since the fish coming down towards me are going through one of two different Dams. As of now for this area stripped bass are the fish in abundance. Striped bass/BlueFish tackle? I really want to try out some striped bass fishing from boat. I have only done this once and it was on a boat decked out with all offshore tackle and such. I have 2 generic ugly sticks, medium action, 7 foot and a 7'6 or 8 foot rod that is pretty thick, not sure on the make. I used it for pier/surf fishing. I also put on a brand new reel. What is the best rig to use surf fishing for striped bass in Northern California? I don't know the name of the setup, but the only rig I know is tying the line to a swivel with a slider behind it where the lead weight is attached to. Then tie a 3' leader with a hook at the other end. I usually use anchovie as bait. I haven't caught one yet using this rig. Is there another rig I should use? And if I use a jig lure, do I just tie it directly at the end of the line or do I use the setup I mentioned earlier but instead of the hook I use the jig? The problem I would think of with tying the jig directly to the line is that the light weight of it would just cause it to come back to shore because of the waves. actually I did catch a striper accidentally using a regular surf leader (with 2 loops for hooks and a clip at the end for a sinker). I was really trying to catch surf perch using bloodworms but ended up catching a 7 pound striper. But I don't think this is the best way to catch a striper. PITX5 Do I tie the jig or the Rapala straight to the line? What do you mean by rip? What part of N.Cali do you fish? I usually fish near Half Moon Bay.

Salt Water Fishing On The Shore - BlueFish and Striped Bass? I will be going to our Beach House down at the Chesapeake Bay sometime soon. I've always fished on the shore and caught great amounts of white perch, spot fish, croaker, and sometimes, small blue fish and small striped bass (which I obviously release) What can I do to catch HUGE blue fish and striped bass fishing on shore? I would prefer to use bait (squid, shrimp, blood worms, and so forth) instead of fishing a lure, which I primarily do for freshwater. Any advice would be great! I've only tried shrimp and blood worms before. Is there some other bait that seems to work better for bluefish and striped bass? How would you cut up the bait (if needed)? How much should I use? Striped Bass And Blue Fish Fishing In The Rain? I'm going to the Chesapeake Bay next week to go fishing. Fishing rod recommendations for Striped Bass, Catfish, Bluegill, etc etc..? Hi. I would like some recommendations for fishing rods. I live in California (central valley area), and I fish in lakes, rivers, aqueducts, and reservoirs; mostly for striped bass, catfish, bluegill, or whatever we can catch :) I want to use 2 setups. For carolina rigs, and maybe spinnerbaits, I was thinking a 7' medium fast spinning rod; like an Ugly Stik lite pro, Cabela's Prodigy, or is there something else better in the $50 price range? I have a Shimano Sedona 2500RB reel with 10# Fireline Crystal and 12# Trilene leader. Is this an ok setup? And for jigging and whatnot, perhaps a 6'6" medium heavy medium fast spinning rod, with a size 1000 reel, and #12 fluorocarbon line; or is my thinking wrong? What rod, reel, and line should I go with? Are the cheap(est) Shimano combo's ok or should I avoid them? I use to fish with one of them cheap Shakespeare combo setups from Walmart, but it was misplaced, so I need a replacement. Thought maybe I can splurge a bit.. I know the Sedona and Ugly Stik lite pro arent expensive, and I would love a GLoomis rod and Stella reel, but Im on a budget. Any and all help is appreciated; suggestions, comments, input, etc etc.. Any tips on fishing for bass ,blue fish or striped bass on long island Ny ? I've been fishing a few times already with my friends and we babbyyy caught anything but a lousy red robin. We've been to the north shores and south shores on long island with no luck. We usually fish with poppers, diamond jigs and bucktails . The one time we caught that red robin was with menhaden bait ( bunker) . We've actually seen blue fish or bass flopping out of the water one time and they were pretty decent sized but were unable to catch anything . We are beginners and wondering what we are doing wrong . Places we have been to are Robert Moses beach , wading river , and a few other spots on south shore. We get really frustrated because just the other day at Robert Moses someone caught about 30" striped bass in the same waters we were in . We usually go around sunrise about 4-7am. Any tips would greatly be appreciated .
