What is a good bait to use while surf fishing in Florida? I live in NJ and taking a trip to florida and im just wondering what the best baits are to catch any type of fish in florida. Also if you have specific baits for specific fish please let me know. Im SALTWATER FISHING!!!! thanks

Why have a never seen anyone surf fishing in Southeast Florida? I fish the inlests sometimes, and the piers, and from boats. I have never seen anyone fishing form the surf. The poblem with the inlets is the bottoms are usaully rocky and I lose a lot of tackle. Do you know why nobody seems to fish the surf? I am going to give it a try...maybe tonight. I mean to say Broward County.

Surf Fishing South Florida? I'm staying in Margate, Florida for two weeks and I want to try my luck at some surf fishing. Yesterday, I headed to pier, which I didn't like at all. Everyone that I have asked always recommends some piers, but I enjoy surf fishing not pier fishing--to me it's more relaxing and enjoyable. However, I've noticed that just about every beach around the area is full of people. So my question is are there any fishing spots in the area that aren't crowded with non-fisherman. Also, are there any jetties or inlets in the area that are productive? Lastly, during this time of year what species should I be targeting? Thanks

Going surf fishing in Florida, Indian rocks beach, Going shark fishing alone advice? I will be going alone as of now i have there from feb 5th to the 12th and I plan on surf fishing everyday for little stuff and mainly sharks. Any advice on how to handle the sharks since I will be alone? Should I reel it in as far as I can and when i feel its fairly beached put pole down/in holder then pull him up by tail? I will be meeting up with couple guys for a day or two that shark fish his name is Tbone on here. ASAP---Need Shark Surf Fishing Advice From EXPERIENCED Surf Fisherman/woman. TBONE HELP PLEASE? I just bought the Okuma Avenger ABF65 Reel. I picked it over penn do to the price and the "live bait" feature. I have 50lb power pro I would setup on it. Unless you think 40 will work. I am still looking for a rod... i was torn between 10 or 12 ft rod. I plan on getting out and dropping my bait (kayak or somthing) But yes on occasion i will be casting. So I need advice on a rod. also how much mono line and what lb should i use for giving some give and cushion so to speak so should i not have any? Also leaders length and strength and pyramid or slip sinker? what weight? how should i have that hooked up? I would like pics if at all possible. I fish a lot! and have been fishing Florida on vacation enough too. BUT!!!! i want advice on how to handle big sharks! How is (saltwater) fishing in Florida right now? I'll have 4 days on the Atlantic coast, near Melbourne. We went around the same time last year, and had a lot of fun. Surf fishing, catching blues and whiting, I liked the best . We also have access to a boat for fishing in the Indian River, near Sebastian's Inlet. We caught a bigger variety of fish there, but nothing real big, and 4 out of 5 were little mutton snappers. Blues are so fun to fight, and they were non-stop. I'll probably go out in the boat one day, and spend the rest of the time on the beach. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Thanks! Cents, wish I could take all you guys with, we'd have a BLAST. Best place to Surf fish for Sharks in Florida in Feb or March. looking for tbone to answer!? I was told the warmer the water the better. So he told me May would be idle for the indian rocks beach area. Looking for Tbone to help me out on this. I wont be able to come in May though i leave for basic and active duty Army and of March the 29th as of now might be later. So in Feb. or March where would be a better location to visit and surf fish? farther south im guessing.. but we when last year early april and i was out swimming to the last sandbar before the reef out there in indian rocks beach area and i couldnt touch bottom lol went out when seemed like low tide but clearly wasnt well long story short see a shark maybe...6 ft i would say it was my size ATLEAST the fin was out of the water chasing a skipping permit!! fin was a good size so i mean would i have good luck if i just when back to the indian rocks area or should i go farther south? please help

SURF SHARK FISHING NEED EXPERIENCED FISHING HELP! THANKS? Ok all I hear is 200 lb this 300lb this and that.... So my first and main question. Do you really need that?! Or is it really about having proper drag letting him run and reeling when he lets you? I understand the leader being a very important part so that i can understand being some heavy duty but the line and everything? Can you get by say with...50-80 lb mono for the shock section of the rig? I just want to know more about this Shark stuff. And if all this high lb stuff is truly needed pics of your rig would be great too fishing in Florida gulf side! What lb leader with work and how long? Right now i have 174lb single stand leader but its so... stiff and I just dont believe I need that but if i really do i will go with it I also have a 100 flourocarbon leader for the shock suppression I think this may be more then enough let me hear your thoughts. PS I would like a different leader because twisting it around to keep it snug hurts the fingures! I dont have a crimp

saltwater on shore Florida fishing? ok im fishing on the miami(eastern side of florida) im on shore(cant cast very far, around 100-150 ft) im around sand/ rocks. surf is usualy very calm/tropical. dark gray/some blue areas of water. im using a strong rod and spinning reel. i dont know what lb test line i should get(thinking about 15lb test, suggestions welcomed) some people have suggested spoons, and i have 2 of those(silver on one side and red stripes on da other) i wus wondering about what type of lure to use (name/color/size/pattern of lure would be appereciated) i've used shrimp, fish cuts, and squid. i just wanna know a useful lure and what it can catch. also aound that location a lot of boats go in and out of the near-by marina, so iwus wondering if that would affect the rate of fishing in the area? Surf fishing in Cancun, Mexico? I need help!? OK my original plan was i was going to Florida or myrtle beach like i do every year and surf fish while I'm there. But this year for Christmas my parents got us tickets to go to Cancun , Mexico over February break. I no nothing about Cancun, Mexico. I believe were staying at Great Parnassus Resort and Spa and i think its on the Caribbean Sea. I tried to look up info but couldn't really find anything on the web. So i need your help. How do I find clams in Florida for bait? I have always used live clams for bait while surf fishing. The prices for claims seem to get steeper every time I go down there. Surf fishing?????P.lease Help!!? ok im down in st petersburg florida on the gulf coast. I got some finger mullet and cut it up into 4 pieces. Then i put the two middle chunks on 2 size 1 circle hook on my bottom rig.But most of the time my bait flys off. When it doesnt with in like 10 seconds i feel tons of bites.Unless it is something else.How do i fish with the frozen finger mullet??? I really need help thanks.

Can you spearfish in surf? I live within 30 minutes of one of the last deserted beaches in Florida (Playalinda). If you walk past the last pier about half a mile there is no one in sight and a sunken barge a little bit off shore in the surf. Can you spearfish in the surf? I offered our Sonoma Chicken Napoleon, which is: Boneless Free Range Chicken Breast & Camembert Cheese Lump Crab Meat & Garlic Infused Spinach Sonoma Valley Beurre Blanc She was offended & told me some B.S. about how SO MANY people do Surf & Turf plates w/ Chicken & Fish. I Googled it & found none. I mean there are endless possibilities b/c my Executive Chef is incredible but I'm just reaching out for some ideas from the crowd.

I saw ufo's once from a home video.? My step father has a Son who is an avid fisherman, he was surf fishing and took a video as he hauled in a huge fish he caught. This was off the coast of Florida, well as he was showing off his catch, in the background there were like 8 bright white lights that came from the horizon they came closer and where almost in perfect line , they looked just like alot of these so called ufo video's. They hovered a short while then one by one went strait down as if to dissapear in the ocean? Personally I don't believe everything I see but this was someone I know well, and the video wasn't used at all to capture such an event, but after I saw that it was unexplainable? They looked like small suns. I don't have the video in hand , my brother inlaw in Florida may still have it , he showed us the video durring Christmas years back, I will mention it to him next time we meet. When I saw it I thought the same, but to him this kinda thing happens all the time there. My entire family saw this video, I am sorry I cannot post this video, I asked this question because I wondered if anyone else has seen similar things off the florida coast. No in no way could this been birds, this was bright balls of light it was just before sunset so was still light.It could be possible they could have been military hellicopters, but the balls of light where close when they went strait down into the ocean, perhaps there was a aircraft carrier out there . I am a very honest man, I am just telling what I personally have seen, and currious as to others experiances is all.

Know how to surf fish? I'm going surf fishing in Florida soon, and it will be my first time. I actually haven't done any fishing at all since I was a little kid, so I could use some basic pointers. I just purchased a 8ft.surf rod/reel combo from Bass Pro Shops. I got some 6/0 circle hooks for in case I decide to fish for a shark or something big, but mainly I'd like to just try for some ladyfish or whiting. What size small hooks do I need and how about my line...what strength do I need? On that note, I don't know what size swivles to get, either. Also, what exactly is a "bottom fishing rig." A guy told me to try that, and I just nodded like I knew what he was talking about. I plan on just getting some shrimp and bucktail jigs from the local bait shop when I'm down there. When I went to Florida and South Carolina, I would put a jig on a gulp shrimp and put a bobber about a yard above it, and that cought a lot of fish, but the waves would move everything around alot. I need to purchase a tarpon setup and this is what i was think Penn fierce 6000 Penn allegiance 20-50lb action 7' rod 30 lb suffix performance braid (maybe 40?) 60 lb flourocarbon leader 7/0 circle hooks any live bait, mullet, ladyfish, pinfish? not really sure what else. ive seen the balloon/bobber methods and i was thinking that or freelining the live baits. i only fish of the naples pier, and in the surf throughout many beaches in naples, as well as backwater canals. (no boat) any other tips? thanks.

How to catch Whiting in Florida? I am going to the Florida Panhandle and am renting a condo on the beach. I am hoping to do some surf fishing and i hear whiting is the best species to target. I have an 8' Ugly Stik Bigwater 1100. I need some advise to see what else I should bring/use while fishing there. Are there any other types of fish I should target? Any feedback would be great!
